off the record

This is going to be a long rant. I've been thinking about it since 0430 this AM.

First, though, a few minor notes:

- Taking Vic's lead, I too have downloaded "Forget-Me-Now". Forget Tobias's business card (which is wicked funny, especially as a Psych grad). My favorite AD s03e03 joke is the name of Scott Baio's character (let me take a moment to bask in the resurrection of Scott Baio. Charles in Charge, dude!). Hee.
- Bonnie, if you're reading this: the tickets to NVC's Aspects of Love are P600, 800, and 1000.
- The Syrian Interior Minister has committed suicide! And, dammit, I forgot to watch Christiane Amanpour's interview with Bashar Al-Assad (and thus proving that I care more about international politics than I do locally)
- Speaking of local news: the windmills in Ilocos Norte prove that there's hope yet for local governance.
- TweakUI, IZArc and trillian are some of the greatest free downloads ever. If that sounded so old school TechTV fan, well, duh.
- Television Without Pity's recaps are damn funny. An example:
"...All of a sudden I HATE it. Tom Cruise in his underwear makes me want to barf." Lorelai (on Risky Business), we all share that sentiment, as do the doctors and nurses at the secret and selective clinic where Katie Holmes probably went to be impregnated with the sperm of Xenu, or whoever the hell.
(Gilmore Girls recap)
- Smallville demonstrates humor: "Gosh, Clark, I didn't realize superwhining was one of your powers" (Chloe)
- and one more TWoP fun:

Now: to the main order of business. I was watching my recorded copy of TDS's "Iraq, a Look Baq" and I wished I had the complete segment of Stephen Colbert's report on the deadline. The "the only way Saddam Hussein can get rid of his weapons of mass destruction is to use weapons of mass destruction, therefore admitting he has them" report. Oh, it's funnier if you know the whole spiel.
So I thought, hmmn. I want to rant about this.
So here I go. Some of the things I wish I had on video:
1) The previously mentioned Stephen Colbert segment. Vic's already sent me the Prince Charles clip, which remains one of my favorite Colbert pieces ever.
2) Hala and Richard's on-air lovers spat about World Women's Day. Oh, the things that segment unleashed. Heck, the Hala-Richard schtick about cricket. Hala and Richard arguing is always fun.
3) Andy Cooper on Conan O'Brien.
4) The Conan O'Brien segment where he brought flowers to his favorite female guests, trying to score a date, and finding Andy Richter with Gina Gershon.
5) Famke Janssen demonstrating her Bond girl's fatal move of choice on Conan.
6) The whole My So-Called Life series. And, yes, there's DVDs, but still.
7) Morgan Webb and Cat Schwartz taking over part of the Call-for-Help-a-thon a couple of years back. Tech with a woman's touch.
8) Hala (at the desk) and Liz (at the LSE) discussing David Beckham's transfer for I think almost two weeks. Hala speaking for non-Becks fans everywhere when she asked out loud: "Why all the fuss?" to Liz's where-do-I-begin-as-a-Beckham-supporter look. In fact, I want on videotape all instances that Hala had to discuss David Beckham or that wife of his.
9) Tessa's death on Highlander.
10) Conan at the Emmys. Because that's always fun. From singing Jethro Tull (which I saw) to singing the Charles in Charge theme (which I didn't see).

And that's just what I remember right now. Give me time, I'll add to that.
Damn I wish I had a TiVo.

"You mean TV lied to us?"
(source unrecalled)
... ahh, my memory slips.

holy crap that's a lot of links for one entry.

Hee. I find it funny how everyone really says it as "blah blah blah" instead of a more normal "Bob Loblaw."(Don't feel bad, I didn't watch Christiane's interview with al-Assad either, since knowing CNN, they'll rerun it to death.)I think I have Andy Cooper on Conan somewhere.... But to tell the truth, if you've seen Andy once on a late night show, you've seen them all. =|And IIRC, Conan singing Jethro Tull was the year that he hosted? Singing the Charles in Charge theme was from this year, his late entry to the Emmy Idol contest, haha.

"The Conan O'Brien segment where he brought flowers to his favorite female guests, trying to score a date, and finding Andy Richter with Gina Gershon."The whole thing is on the COnan 10th Anniversary DVD. They briefly show Famke's goldeneye thing on Conan because she was one of the females from the skit above.

Hey I remember that Conan episode. Well for that part anyway. Most memorable Conan clip for me would be when Juliet Lewis was talking about how she met her skater ex-hubby (they are exes now right?) and she was actually reciting the lyrics of I Love Rock and Roll, that is until she really burst into song and jumped on the table.Tessa's death in Highlander....how tragic was that. I mean to die by mugging when you could have been killed in a much more cooler way.And dude, I have VCDs of MSCL 1-10. I haven't watched it yet. But I plan to over the Christmas Break. Hey speaking of which, let's watch Jordan in Lords of War (He'll always be Jordan to me, despite the existence of his man-boobs and dating an Olsen twin).Speedbump
