why does God do this to me?

A little history: years ago, when Steffi Graf was about to retire and so was Anke Huber, and the tennis scene was littered with up-and-comers I didn't really like, I attached myself to a German tennis player named Marlene Weingartner. She showed so much promise, and she surely would have potential, I just wonder why it's taking her so long to fulfill it.

Lately, with the onslaught of the Russians and the Williams sisters, I have been beginning to miss Martina Hingis. Oh, I used to hate her with such a fiery passion. Such arrogance. Brat. But, then, time and distance made the heart grow fond, and I started thinking, wow. I miss Martina. With her brainless remarks, foot-in-mouth disease ever-present, she was... well, she made press conferences fun.

My point, and I do have one, is that Martina was making a comeback and Marlene ruined it all. Marlene shows brilliance sporadically, but WHY NOW? why would Marlene do this? Now I'm worried that Martina would just go retire and rest on her laurels.

Jeez. Marlene Weingartner. Martina couldn't lose to someone like Conchita Martinez, who was at least once a top 3 player? no.

Sigh. I guess I'll just have to live with Daniela Hantuchova for my tennis fanaticism. Except she's as erratic as Anna Kournikova, with one exception: Daniela has actually won a title, so thank God for small favors.
