Oh. Just me? Haha.
Anyway. One of the first crushes I had as a child (after Sven - don't judge) was Jareth, the Goblin King. Yes, he was evil. Yes, his hair was outstandingly bad. Yes, he kidnapped a baby -- but he did it because the woman he loved wanted it done, so he was only subject to her whims, you see (yes, love makes us blind).

And, gods, when I grew up and made the connection that the David Bowie was the guy who played Jareth? I'm sure there was a small victory dance there somewhere, upon realizing that childhood crushes, when looked back upon, can be cool. Okay, so I'm not too fanatic about his music (for me, to be a fanatic is being able to tag a song from hearing one line. One. Line. But I do love plenty of artists). But it's David Bowie, man. And he's married to Iman.
My love for the man formerly known as Ziggy Stardust is when he recited Hickory Dickory Dock on Conan, so many years ago, in his signature David Bowie style.
After the jump, David Bowie cements my appreciation for Arcade Fire's Wake Up.
I first enjoyed the song in the trailer for Where the Wild Things Are. This performance made me realize how wonderful it truly is.
I ask for so little. Just fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave.
- Jareth (Labyrinth)
See? Creepy and swoon-worthy in one go.
