First, a cry for help:
I hitch a ride with my aunt and her coworker, and after a year of silent gratitude, I've gotten a feeler from my aunt that maybe I should give her coworker a gift. Easy for her to say.
But, fine. Now:
1. What do you give a middle-aged man with no real personality, no real interests (outside of banking), and BeeGees type of music?
2. Where in Metro Manila (Makati or Quezon City, especially) can you find lemon pie?
Argh.
I saw Manhattan Murder Mystery on HBO. I liked that movie much better in high school/college, when I first saw it. I wonder what's happened. I should like it more now, now that I'm of the proper mind to appreciate most of what was going on in that movie. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it, and Woody Allen was much better then than he is now, but still. Of course, how much can I dislike a movie with Diane Keaton, Anjelica Huston and Alan Alda? And, hey, it's got Zach Braff in it.
Ooh. Speaking of movies. I spent too much money on DVDs and VCDs (dammit, bye-bye for now, laptop -- couple more months before we get to be together). Yes, VCDs. And John Hughes movies, too (I'm so 80s). No, I'm no Molly Ringwald fan, but Sixteen Candles. Come on. And I got Pretty In Pink, too, because... it had to be done.
One of these days, I really should do a comparative movie analysis of Sense and Sensibility and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Both, of course, are Ang Lee works. One is set in England, the other China. One has Emma Thompson, the other, Michelle Yeoh. One has Alan Rickman and Hugh Laurie, the other... doesn't. But it's got cool martial arts in it.
If anyone knows where I can find a copy of Kenneth Branagh's Much Ado About Nothing, tell me.
And The Importance of Being Earnest. I can't find them anywhere.
There's nothing wrong with you that a little Prozac and a polo mallet can't cure.

1. A gift check? No, that's even worse.
2. I just know of lemon tart from Bizu. Have you tried Chocolate Kiss at UP Bahay ng Alumni?
I have Earnest on pirated DVD (the shop's sole copy), but even I'm having problems with my copy.
Go ask Spectra if they can do the whole special order thingy for Much Ado About Nothing.
