CNN fangirl alert

Okay, Christmas... gods, spirits, whatever. I haven't been in a very seasonal mood lately, and it hasn't quite been my year, but I must say, it's too late for Thanksgiving, but thank you.

When Hala first tweeted her arrival in London, of course my first thought went to: hooray! Then it went to: ooh, I wonder if Richard's going to be around.

And he was.

To those who don't know (and why would you?), I developed my obsession fanaticism for CNN and Hala Gorani during the days when she'd been in CNN London, co-hosting BizNews with Richard Quest. Because she's pretty, and she's witty, and she can be so sarcastic to be endearing (to me). She then moved on to Atlanta, where she continues to host the International Desk (it's at 2AM HKT, so... thank you, DVR).

Now, I've basically complained that ever since she moved to Atlanta, that dry wit hasn't been in display as much. Well, thank you, CNN, because in the span of two days, it turns out all it took was Richard and Richard's affection for airplanes and airlines to bring the sarcasm out.

As a reminder, this is how Richard's affection for planes was previously discussed:

Tuesday, 21 October 2003
Richard: I could sit and look at this pictures of Concorde coming into London all day.
Hala: Some people do take it quite far. Turn a 60-mile-round-trip to see a plane take off and land. I don’t. Different strokes...
(Laughter)
Richard: I want a new presenter.

So did anyone else see Hala and Richard at CNN London? So, thank you Boeing 787, and thank you, BA unions, because that meant the developing stories were both related in detail by our dearest Quest.

(Sorry, BA passengers. Hope those negotiations go well for your sake.)

No, I don't have screencaps yet, but Thot has video, and I leave you with this little gem that reminds me why I loved BizNews so much:

Tuesday, 15 December 2009
(on the Boeing 787 test flights)
Hala: I understand we've gotten a warning (the producer) told me 90 seconds, about a minute ago.
Richard: Try not to get too excited.
Hala: I can't help it, Richard. It's a plane taking off.

It's not quite "there is a world outside the Richard Quest universe", but it'll do.

... She's hosting the first Inside The Middle East for 2010, so don't miss that. (this tweet made me laugh.)
