love and death

There was a time that Woody Allen was the go-to guy for smart comedy. Maybe not so much anymore, but below are two of his teachings that are part of my foundation, both from Love And Death (with Diane Keaton! Diane, please start being more selective in your movie projects):

First:
Boris: Nothingness. Non-existence. Black emptiness.
Sonja: What did you say?
Boris: Oh, I was just planning my future.

Next, why logic might not be so useful when it comes to love:
"To love is to suffer. To avoid suffering, one must not love. But, then one suffers from not loving. Therefore, to love is to suffer, not to love is to suffer, to suffer is to suffer. To be happy is to love, to be happy, then, is to suffer, but suffering makes one unhappy, therefore, to be unhappy one must love, or love to suffer, or suffer from too much happiness --- I hope you're getting this down..."
