rerun

So did you miss me? Did you? Probably not, but you're also probably wondering where the hell have I been, young lady?

Let me tell you.

I was dying in a hospital. Of boredom.

If you've been in contact with me in the past three weeks, you would be aware that I've been sick. And the other Friday (21st), things came to a head, I finally gave in and used our HMO to get myself diagnosed before I self-medicate further. Turns out I was a candidate for dengue, which was hell in a wastebasket. I've already done dengue 10 years ago! Must I re-live that horrible experience?

Yes.

3 blood samples, 1 urine and stool test, 12 hospital meals, and 7 IV drip bags later, I was released. Not much of a 3-day holiday, by the way. But I was released to doctor's orders of one week bed rest, which I so willingly obliged.

Anyway, it wasn't really dengue, it was almost-dengue. The official diagnosis is: "viremia with moderate dehydration". My cousin, who's a med student, was not amused. Expected better from me, he did.

So what have we learned from this experience?
1) IV drips for hydration help you temporarily lose weight and make you want to pee all the time.
2) Regardless of how much of your salary you lose to PhilHealth and your HMO, you'll still get a lousy hospital space. Mine had no TV. None! Agh. And I still had to pay extra, because the room I would've gotten would have been a shared room, and had no private toilet. Seriously.
3) Most nurses don't deserve this cheating scandal. (IMHO, they should all just get over themselves and take the test again. Just because.)
4) There's nothing to watch during the weekday on effing Destiny except for The Daily Show. Thank God I'm a CNN geek, because otherwise? However, just when you have all that time to watch CNN, you get Max and Isha (later Monita), and Questy in Atlanta while Hala's away. (Please, CNN, put Hala and Richard together.)
5) Christiane Amanpour rules the world.

Next up: my review of the INXS concert.

Not to sound like a grandma, but you don't call, you don't write when you're dying? Here I thought I again did something so assaholic that you would forget the whole Super Ex-Girlfriend outing we had planned. BTW, IMHO the movie didn't suck as much as people told me it would. It would have been better if the lead guy was Jon Cusack or something, cause Jon is so adorable when he's panicking and he does things like jumping over hedges and raising boomboxes over his head. Or maybe I just liked it because it was Uma? Food for thought.

Oh yeah, been seeing Mik. Went to her exhibit. Not bad. She's also wondering why you suddenly went AWOL. Guess I have to break the news to her of your recent brush in with the medical scene.
