It's as insane as it sounds.
Not that I didn't sign up for it, or anything, I just didn't know I would be doing
Let me explain, because I obviously have to.
My late grandfather was an artist and through a long and serendipitous manner, it was decided that we would have an exhibit to showcase his work to be shown in a museum.
Yay.
However, said museum can only host said exhibit, and unless the materials would be claimed as their own, they cannot really allocate resources in preparing the exhibit, so...
Not so yay.
Especially since we don't have a list of all the works he was commissioned to do, things (a lot of things) got lost during the reconstruction of our home, and, oh, my grandmother burned a lot of his papers. And a whole bunch of his photos and documents were with my aunt, who kept them in a warm, safe place at her home... which was right smack in the middle of Ondoy's path of destruction. I'm not even kidding. So we have lost paintings, destroyed/lost sculptures, missing documents, and the fact that because my grandfather didn't want to publicize his work when he was alive, we don't have much to work with now.
Yes, I admit it's been fun and interesting to go through the things of a man my mom and her sisters hold dear but his grandchildren never met.
It's a little disconcerting to realize that the tendency to collect piles and piles of notebooks and paper that runs through my family is completely on display with my grandfather, though, because that's a whole bunch of aging paper that I have to go through.
Oh, and did I mention the family wants me to put together a website, too? Oh yes: Put those PX1 lessons to use, J, you've got some web designing to do!
Um, no.
Maybe, if you'd all just give me an allowance for all this research and running around I have to do for this exhibit, and stop asking me when I'm going to get a job, because, really, I can't really put together a fucking exhibit when I'm using up my savings and worrying about how to pay my fucking bills.
And, also? My personal computer is my personal computer. I am not lugging around my pc with all my files
But, eyes on the prize: putting together an art exhibit and maybe (hopefully) putting together a rough website puts two things on my CV that's not related to human resources. Maybe I won't have to lie to unsuspecting applicants in my future anymore.
Eyes on the prize.
