OK, this is completely random and probably irrelevant to your life, but that Aya la Ala bang ordinance hoopla about selling birth control?
The guy who approved that community ordinance attended ROTC with my dad in college. And as per Father, this guy's implacability (since we're being polite) can be summed up in one anecdote:
Their corps (core?) commander called for a meeting of the officers at 4PM at the RO offices. At 4, they're all there except for one guy. They continue with the meeting, since this was way back before the age of cellphones or even pagers. About an hour or so later, here comes Mr.X.
He sees his fellow officers in the room, and asks what they're all doing there. So they reply, "uhhh... meeting?" To which he starts ranting at his fellow officers that he'd been waiting at their usual hang out for over an hour, where they were supposed to meet, and when he got tired of waiting, he decided to drop by the ROTC office.
They all look at him, dumbstruck, because, really, WTF? And no matter how much or how many people tried to point out that if they were all at the ROTC office, and he was flying solo at the hangout, then maybe his logic was mistaken. But Mr.X kept insisting that, clearly, he had been at the right place, and everybody else was at the wrong location.
True story.
So, yeah, those rallies? Probably won't sway him.
