Consider this: Johnny Hart, the creator of BC, teamed up with JIM HENSON to create a Wizard of Id show. And The Henson Company recently uploaded the test pilot for the program to Youtube.
You can totally hear Kermit in the voice of the wizard, or as Vulture puts it, "Kermit had magical powers in his former life."

Now, personally I opine that BC > Wizard of Id (Curly and Wiley were two of my childhood idols), and I will never say anything bad about The Muppets (Sesame Street used to be sacred up until Elmopocalypse), but from this clip it's kind of easy to see why it never became a full show.
Sure, it's a test pilot, just to see how the show would've been done. But just like you shouldn't turn Dr. Seuss books into full-length movies, it's evidently not easy to adapt comic strips into a full program... and maybe that should be enough proof that one shouldn't.
Still, though: awesomesauce.
Additional procrastination material: Jim Henson's Red Book.
