i love all my friends

I like to think that I'm choosy with the people I call my friends. I like it when they've already been corrupted, i.e., disillusioned or just the smallest bit of a cynic. I like having realist-idealists around me. You know, those who have great dreams, but also recognize the difficulties and even impossibilities of those dreams.

I like to have friends who share my taste in music, or at least have good taste in music, so we can teach other what good taste is (Dave Matthews is open for debate). They are allowed to like pop music, but must be willing to face open mockery. They must openly admit to it, and be willing to mock themselves for it.
An enjoyment for movies, and TV shows... these are also important elements.

They must enjoy reading. Books. Magazines are acceptable, and must be good.

But even then there are certain Musts on their favorite lists, and Must Nots that should never be on that list, unless it is under the heading of Guilty Pleasure.

They must be able to make quick-witted remarks. That said, they must be quick, and witty.
Must enjoy Twister Fries. Eat heartily. Be willing to mock self.

That said, friends should not enjoy MYMP (you better have a damn good reason for confessing to this). Friends should not think that JD Fortune is the only lead singer of INXS (points for thinking he's a cheap replacement for Michael Hutchence). Friends should know what Dave Grohl's band was before Foo Fighters (if you don't, where the f--- have you been?). Friends are not allowed to take self-help instructions as enlightenment. Dr.Phil is for your mockery, people, not wisdom.
Gushing about one's lovelife is allowed twice (at the beginning, and at the end. It's also allowed if he did something spectacularly great or assaholic, but it doesn't count if he's Prince Charming or an Assaholic, in which case the twice rule stands), not every single time we meet. When a guy dumps you, take it like a woman and kick his ass to the curb. If there was another person, be a woman about it and claw that person's eyes out. You know they'd do it to you.
Should not enjoy watching lovestories on TV, especially when it's badly dubbed into Pilipino. And it would be wise to think of how obscene Astroboy's ass rockets are.
Friends should be able to name at least one Favorite Author. And the first one uttered better not be Dan Brown (which I'll just have to forgive, with the hype, and all).

Bonus points for knowing why having fava beans and a nice chianti is funny.

Bought Romeo and Juliet (I heart you, Leonard Whiting) DVD, and a VCD of The Unbearable Lightness of Being (Spy Mommy!)

Check this out: 30-second Jaws with Bunnies (!).

Bunnies aren't as cute as everybody supposes
They've got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses
And what's with all the carrots
What do they need such good eyesight for anyway
Bunnies, bunnies it must be bunnies!!!!
- Anya (It Must Be Bunnies), from Buffy's "Once More With Feeling"

Friends must know who the heck Nancy Friday is. If not they must at least be willing to read one of her books.
